As I look critically at thousands of horses every year, my eye is fairly well tuned when it comes to looking at the 'perfect athlete'. For someone to actually create that absolute picture in art form to the detail it requires, is a unique and extraordinary talent. This has been another fabulous journey with Starman – seeing him now through the work of this wonderfully talented sculpture artist that is Charlie Langton. From visiting Tally Ho Stud to document and absorb his physique and character and then being able to pass on these same qualities into his work is a truly unique talent. I am beyond thrilled with what has been created.

Finally seeing both the finished body bronze and head bronze of Starman in Charlie’s studio was an emotional experience and one that I will never forget. It really felt like my homebred champion was coming back home again with me – and of course he now is in pride of place.   Thank you for being able to do that for me Charlie.

Having worked closely with Charlie on the hugely successful sculpture project to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen's 90th Birthday and her connection to Newmarket, I can recommend him to you, without hesitation.

Charlie created a superb and unique 20% over life size Mare & Foal, and worked collaboratively with another artist who sculpted Her Majesty. Charlie's work was not only technically challenging but also vital to get correct, conformationally and aesthetically. His professionalism throughout the project was second to none and he delivered the work on time and on budget. He was unfailingly helpful, professional and a true delight to work with throughout. Nothing was too much trouble and yet he worked tirelessly to produce a work of the highest quality, which has been met with universal acclaim.

The sculpture has hugely improved the entrance to Newmarket and Charlie was also proactively instrumental in recognising and pushing the need to re design the setting to achieve this. He then also worked closely with a landscape architect and it is an example of how he is willing to go above and beyond to ensure the highest possible standard. His dedication to the study of the thoroughbred, coupled with his professionalism, passion and drive to create the very best equine bronzes, make him the stand out choice for commissions of this nature.

In conclusion, it was a total pleasure and a completely positive experience to Chair the Committee which commissioned this sculpture and it is my privilege to be able to recommend Charlie to you without reservation.

I have long admired Charlie's work as an equine artist and sculptor but it wasn't until he unveiled his one third sized portrait of Derby winner Motivator that I realised that here was an artist with a talent that was truly unique.
